The World Comes to Münster

International Week is a cornerstone of the IMS experience at FH Münster, bringing together guest lecturers, students and staff from partner universities across four continents for a full week of cross-cultural learning, expert talks and practical career insights. It is where the international dimension of the programme stops being a bullet point on a brochure and starts being something you can actually feel on campus.

The First International Week at IMS: A Week That Brought the World to Münster

For one week in April 2026, the Münster School of Business became a little more international than usual. From 20 to 24 April, the very first International Week brought together guest lecturers, expert speakers, students and staff from across the globe for five days of cross-cultural exchange, academic collaboration and practical career insights.

Guest Lecturers from Around the World

The highlight of the week for many was the presence of visiting professors from partner universities in Chile, Ghana, Canada, South Africa, Belgium, Latvia, Poland and Spain. Some took over entire courses, others were integrated into existing classes — but all brought a perspective that goes beyond what any textbook can offer. All students were welcome to attend any of the guest lectures without prior registration, making the week open, accessible and genuinely community-driven.

Expert Talks: From Brazil to China to the Finnish Mindset

A series of Expert Talks ran throughout the week, covering cultural insights, international business opportunities and global career planning. Topics ranged from doing business in India and understanding China today to the transformation of Medellín, Colombia and what global employers really look for in business graduates. Some talks took place on campus, others online, ensuring that as many students as possible could take part regardless of their schedule.

Experience Abroad Day

Thursday 23 April was dedicated entirely to the topic of studying and working abroad. Students could explore information on semester abroad programmes, internships and partner universities, attend info sessions organised by the International Office, and hear first-hand accounts from fellow students who had already taken the leap. International students also had access to dedicated sessions on entering the German job market, including a CV check and a workshop on finding internships abroad.

Why It Matters

The International Week was more than a calendar event. It was a demonstration of what the IMS programme stands for: the belief that understanding different cultures, perspectives and ways of doing business is not a nice-to-have but a core professional skill. For a programme built around international marketing and sales, a week like this does not just complement the curriculum, it brings it to life.
